Access to water and sanitation

Over 844 million people in the world live without access to a basic drinking water service, and 2.3 billionhave no access to a basic sanitation service, resulting in avoidable deaths, chronic disease, fewer hours of education and low productivity.

At the same time, the demand for water for agriculture, industry and domestic use is increasing rapidly (there will be a 40% water deficit by 2030, it is estimated) as water pollution and ecosystem degradation worsen due to the amount of untreated sewage.
